Competition is the name of the game in any business, but even more so in the multi-level marketing businesses. If you want to gain a competitive edge and grab your piece of the market, then you may have to change your marketing strategy.  This may mean that you must abandon the methods used in the 1980’s, and catch up to year 2010.

Marketing Online

Using the internet is one of the effective ways to market MLM business. One method is to create a blog where your MLM products will be featured. Create stimulating web graphics to catch the attention of web surfers (go to www.elance.com if you want to outsource web graphics). Regularly post informative and engaging articles that are related to your product or industry. Create informative and relevant videos and upload them not only on your website but also in sites like Youtube. Join online forums or message boards and regularly post your opinions and reactions. Then, embed a link or a message that takes them to your website. You can also join social networking sites such as Facebook, LinkedIn, Twitter, etc. Establish genuine friendship with other online users, regularly post comments in other sites, and indirectly or subtly promote your products.

Marketing with Social Media

Social media is another one of the effective ways to market mlm business.  Please don’t assume that this gives you permission to throw-up on the online market about your business.  Whatever you do, don’t SPAM.  You will lose friends quickly and possibly have your account banned.

To be on the safe side follow social media rules and be discrete about your business.  Also, get comfortable with being transparent.  Your new friends will want to know more about you.  So place pictures and videos of yourself and dialogue with them often.  You will want your dialogue to be controlled so that you are not wasting time, but actually giving advise or answering questions that people may post.

When you become the ‘go to guy,’ people will start to flock to you and will follow you to your virtual home (your blog) to know more about you.  Once they get to your blog, they will browse around to see what you are about, and will see the information about your MLM business.

Question:  What is the likely hood that your new friend will call you about your business?

You are building trust and value to the people who are watching you.  Oh, and did I mention that this is a free way to generate leads and exposure to your MLM business?

Using “Free Stuff” as Bait

Here’s another effective way to market MLM Business.  You can give free teleseminars to your prospects and those you market to.  A free teleseminar can literally be rejection free recruiting.  Be sure to close your prospects at the end of the teleseminar with a strong call to action.

Offline Effective Ways To Market A Home-Based Business

For paid advertising you can use:  radio ads, online banners, TV ads, co-ops, or pay per click campagins.  This is very effective in getting tons of traffic to your blog or website.

These methods are more expensive, and I would advise you to use them when you have more money than you do time.  But if you have more time than you do money, then you may want to stick with free methods until you have an advertising budget.
